Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

YankzWorld Studio (“YankzWorld”, “we”, “us”) is a web engineering studio based in Montréal, Québec, Canada. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information gathered through yankzworld.com (the “Site”).

We are committed to compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), and applicable Canadian privacy law.

2. Information We Collect

We collect personal information only when you actively provide it to us or when it is generated by your visit to the Site.

  • Contact form submissions — name, email address, company name (optional), selected subject, estimated budget range, and your message.
  • Analytics data — anonymised visit data (page URL, referrer, browser type, approximate country) collected by our self-hosted Umami instance. Umami does not use cookies, does not track users across sites, and does not collect personally identifiable information.
  • Browser preferences — theme preference (light/dark) stored in your browser's localStorage, never sent to our servers.

We do not collect payment information, government-issued identifiers, or sensitive personal information through this Site.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to your inquiry or project request.
  • To send a one-page engagement proposal if your project is a fit.
  • To understand aggregate Site traffic and improve content.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making, profiling, or marketing without your explicit consent.

4. Analytics

The Site uses Umami, a self-hosted, open-source analytics platform. All analytics data is processed on our own servers in Canada. Umami collects no cookies, no cross-site identifiers, and no persistent user IDs. Data is aggregated and used solely to understand page performance and traffic sources.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

The Site does not set any third-party or advertising cookies. The only browser storage this Site uses is:

  • Theme preference (localStorage) — stores your chosen light/dark mode. Never transmitted to any server.
  • Cookie notice preference (localStorage key yw-cookie-consent) — records that you dismissed the cookie notice. Never transmitted to any server.

6. Data Retention

Contact form submissions are retained for up to 24 months from the date of receipt, after which they are permanently deleted. Analytics data is aggregated and does not contain information that could identify you after the initial anonymisation step.

7. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — our email provider (Mailu, self-hosted) processes contact form submissions. No third-party email marketing platforms are used.
  • Legal obligation — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of YankzWorld or others.

8. Your Rights

Under PIPEDA and Québec Law 25, you have the right to:

9. Data Security

All data is stored on servers we operate and control in Canada. Communication between your browser and the Site is encrypted via TLS. Contact form data is transmitted over encrypted channels to our self-hosted email server.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the Site evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
